It’s time to wrap up this amazing gaming year with a few more games and releases. Here are all the games you need to know about coming out in December 2025.
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion
Tribute Games returns to its excellent collaboration with publisher Dotemu, delivering a new and exciting beat ’em up featuring beloved Marvel superheroes.
Players will control well-known heroes including Iron Man, Captain America, members of the Avengers, X-Men characters, and lesser-known heroes like Beta Ray Bill and Phyla-Vell, fighting major threats across the galaxy.
Guild Wars Reforged
Guild Wars series returns in a major way 20 years after its original release, with a new updated version that brings back all original story packs.
Existing players with any version of the original game will receive this upgrade for free.
Technical upgrades include support for modern controllers, redesigned UI, high refresh rate support on compatible screens, official Steam Deck support, and full graphical enhancements to leverage modern GPU capabilities. The game launches on December 3 for PC.
Octopath Traveler 0
The Octopath Traveler series continues with a new release, Octopath Traveler 0, which is essentially a port of an existing mobile game.
The number of buildings you can place depends on the platform PlayStation 5 allows up to 500 buildings, the original Nintendo Switch up to 250, and Switch 2 up to 400.
Players can also build roads, gardens, and other elements to restore Wishvale to its former glory.
The game is expected to offer at least 100 hours of gameplay.
Octopath Traveler 0 launches on December 4 for all current and previous-generation consoles, including Nintendo Switch 2.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The launch of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond marks the end of eight long years of anticipation.
Originally revealed at E3 2017, players can finally step into the shoes of Samus Aran on the alien planet Viewros, facing the villain Sylux.
The experience focuses on environmental exploration and discovering new abilities.
The main feature of the fourth installment is the ability to use new telekinetic powers along with a heavy motorcycle called Vi-0-La for exploring vast areas.
The game launches on December 4 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow
The iconic Thief series returns to virtual reality, putting players in the shoes of a young thief named Magpie, who steals Garrett’s mechanical eye, the main character from the original trilogy.
Magpie experiences Garrett’s presence while attempting to steal valuable items across the town.
ROUTINE
ROUTINE is a first-person horror shooter set in an abandoned space base that players must explore to understand what happened. The game emphasizes 1980s-style futuristic environment design and features a soundtrack by Mick Gordon, known for his work on the modern DOOM series.
ROUTINE launches on December 4 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X, available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Terminator 2D: No Fate
This 2D side-scroller allows players to experience the story of the second Terminator film, including extended content affecting the game’s ending.
Players control Sarah Connor, the T-800, and John Connor in missions, facing Skynet and the T-1000. The game also features Arcade Mode, Infinite Mode, Boss Rush, and more.
